KalTame is a zero-calorie sugar substitute made from sucralose.
Like natural sugars, sucralose also interacts with the sweet taste receptors in humans. Although recognized by the same sweet taste receptors, sucralose is extremely sweet. In fact, Sucralose is 600 times sweeter than sugar, minus the calories.
Zero Calorie Sweetener
Aspartame, saccharine and acesulfame K are about 200 times sweeter than sugar. Neotame (aspartame derivative) is 8000 - 12000 times sweeter than sugar.
Sucralose acts as a zero calorie sugar substitute and is used in place of sugar to eliminate or reduce calories in a wide variety of products, including beverages, baked foods, desserts, dairy products, syrups etc. Sucralose is extremely stable to high heat of cooking and baking. It is even stable to ultra - high temperature (UHT) pasteurization. Hence, foods that are cooked or baked with sucralose, do not lose their sweetness.
